Birthday Treat: Instead of food how about a book!!!!
If your child is having a birthday then you may want to donate your child's favorite book to our classroom library. Have your child write a special message to the class on the inside cover of the book. Your child may read the book to the class then we will add it to our classroom library! Please contact me if you have questions.
Birthdays are very important to all of us; especially those in Kindergarten. Part of our health curriculum is to teach the children about the importance of eating nutritional foods. Therefore, I am asking you to let your child participate in our Birthday Book program instead of sending in a sugary treat.
Here is how it works: your child will bring a book as his/her gift to the class. If you wish…it can be wrapped and decorated with a ribbon. Your child can pick out the book or it can be a surprise and you pick it out. On the day that we celebrate your child’s birthday, he/she will open the book in front of the class and we will read it aloud. It then becomes a permanent part of our classroom library. This becomes a very special present, one that will outlast a sugary snack.
As stated in the handbook...(page 14) "Birthday invitations should not be passed out at school unless the entire classroom is invited. School personnel cannot give addresses and phone numbers outs. Please utilize the student directory."
As stated in the handbook... Food that is brought into the class to share must be in a sealed store purchased container with all ingredients listed.
